Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:

Greetings and blessings be to you in the precious name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! As the children of Father God, supernaturally birthed, sealed, nurtured and secured by the Holy Spirit in our very being, we share a glorious honor and an eternal heritage in our Master, Jesus Christ! Indeed, what mercy! What forgiveness! What tender love! ...that we should be called the children of God!!! It brings to mind the chorus popular a few years ago: "I’m a child of the King!" Oh, that our Heavenly Father would grant each of us a fresh revelation of the immense grace of our salvation; that He would give us a strengthened, unwavering faith in the presence and power of God within us; and that our understanding of His infinite love for us would ever blossom into newer and newer heights and depths.

In the mission field of nursing home ministry we often encounter dear children of the King who have endured deprivation, humiliation and suffering that is difficult to relate to. They have lost just about all of their precious belongings, their family pictures, their keepsakes, the furniture pieces and the kitchenware that their mother and grandmother gave them. It has all been reduced to a small closet at the foot of their bed. Their privacy is minimal. Their care is often given with just a token of the love they were used to in their home. The fellowship they enjoyed among their Christian brothers and sisters at church is absent now. Most all of their creature comforts, their familiar surroundings, their favorite activities, and the joys of close friendship and family bonds are gone now. Time, sickness and age has stolen all but the essentials to sustain life.

And there they lay in their bed or their geri-chair with a smile on their face and a cheery tone in their voice welcoming us with grace and love!

No one would give them the microphone or the pulpit now. No one would ask them to teach the Sunday School class now. No one would expect them to expound on any deep theological meaning to life, or love, or faith, or hope. No. But there they lay in silent, profound utterance of the grace and the mercy of God!!! There they lay beaming forth the testimony of God’s hand in the life of His dear, precious child! There they lay calling out in sincerity and truth, from the depths of suffering and humility..."Oh, how I love Jesus!"

Here is clear, clean commentary on "joy unspeakable and full of glory." Here is pure "peace that passes understanding." Here is God’s unassailable answer to all that Satan can throw at His child!

For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. Romans 8:18

Do many in nursing homes share anything like this glory? Sadly, no. In fact, they are often few and far between. But what a privilege to witness such a priceless gem in God’s kingdom when we meet one so close to graduation to the glory of their heavenly home. So here we are faced with the double-edged sword of Christian ministry in care facilities: there are those who need encouragement in their faith in Christ and those who need to hear the message of Christ’s saving grace. So we go and so we seek to be a resource for others who go to this mission field at their Father’s call. He knows the need.

Yes, there is a labor involved in ministry to this arena of need in our society, but there is great reward when the Lord of the Harvest grants us a glimpse into His work in the hearts of His dear children. He has not forsaken them! What an honor that He would invite us to walk with Him in the orchard of His love for the forgotten, the lonely and the lost. We sincerely thank each of you who help us with your prayers and your financial support. May God richly bless you for your sacrifice.

Love in Christ,
