Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

We greet you with joy and peace in our hearts by the grace of God. There are many rumors of disaster and predictions of gloom echoing thru the headlines today like thunder. The storm clouds of fear and hopelessness loom ominously on the horizon. Every day, news broadcasters shock our society with images of death and destruction. The tragedies they chronicle are here in our own backyard as well as around the world. Predators, terrorists, warmongers, malicious computer hackers, ebola, west goes on and on.

How easy it is to lose sight of the important things!

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy - meditate on these things. (Philippians 4:4-8 NKJV)

As we take this passage seriously, the weights of doom and dread begin to fall off. What life is really all about becomes more and more important and we are reminded of the words of an old hymn:

This world is not my home, I'm just-a-passing through.
My treasures are laid up, somewhere beyond the blue.
The angels beckon me from Heaven's open door,
And I cain't feel at home in this world anymore!

Now we know that the idea of this song is countered by the words of Jesus commanding us to go into all the world and preach the gospel. So preach His good news we will do - with our hands hard at work for Christ in the here and now and our eyes fixed on the goal of standing in His presence one day in victory!

And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away." (Revelation 21:3-4 NKJV)

We meet many in our work in the long-term care arena who have little interest in the affairs and the riches of this world. They have fixed their eyes on the goal and they long to see the portals of their home in heaven. What a blessing it is to have the privilege of encouraging them in their faith that Jesus was who He said He was and that He will do what He said He would do. They shall NOT perish, but have everlasting LIFE! Praise God Almighty!

We are humbled by the sacrifice of those who support us with prayers and donations. All of you can rejoice with us that there are many waiting to greet you in glory with thanks for your kindness.

Blessings in Christ!
