Newsletter of the Month

October 2010

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Greetings in Jesus' Name.  The very first thing we want to say is "Thank you very much!" for your prayers for this ministry, your encouragement to us and your support for our financial needs.  As you may know, much of our ministry is focused on blessing Christian missionaries who share with us the front line of long-term care ministry.  Through your kind generosity we are able to continue giving our nursing home ministry tools to them without charge.  Ten-thousand-plus nursing home residents – world-wide – have been blessed by "Our Hymn Book" and its accompaniment CD set.  Hundreds of "Christian Christmas Carols" booklets and CD's are in use. We hear often from Christians who are blessed by the help they find in "A Handbook for Nursing Home Ministry" downloaded from our website.  Over the years we have been honored to distribute untold thousands of "Care Package" items to residents in nursing homes. You and Dar and I will not know until we reach "Glory" how many souls struggling in their faith have been saved and strengthened and revived by our humble, simple labor of love.  Again, we say "Thank You!" from the bottom of our heart.

We just returned from the annual conference of "Christian Fellowship of Care Center Ministries - CFCCM."  What a blessing to share three days of prayer, fellowship and consultations with others who have also embarked on full-time outreach to nursing home residents.
One of the topics discussed at the "CFCCM" conference was a "National Long-term Care Christian Volunteers' Convention."  Funding and providing the manpower to bring something like this together is a huge issue.  PLEASE - PLEASE - PLEASE PRAY.  Nursing home ministry needs a national convention to put a face on the army of Christians and the tens of thousands of residents in this mission field.  We believe the Lord is calling us to such an event somehow - soon - the time is NOW! The numbers of hurting souls needing long-term care in this country (and around the world) is growing - NOW - and the Body of Christ must be awakened to their call for help! PLEASE - PLEASE - PLEASE PRAY!!!

We remind you of the day of prayer on Oct. 23rd (see below).  Call today to encourage us with your intentions to join us in this crucial component of effective nursing home ministry (prayer).

A Day of Prayer for Long-Term Care
October 23rd, 2010, 10AM to 4PM
Cornerstone Baptist Church – 1500 Sewell's Point Rd., Norfolk, VA 23502

Join us in corporate and small-group intercession on behalf of the residents of long-term care settings in Hampton Roads, throughout the States and all over the world. As the Lord leads, we will also be praying for the staff of the facilities, for family members of residents, for the home-bound and their caregivers, for LTC volunteers and for Christian ministers in this mission field.
We will take a one-hour break between 12 noon and 1PM for lunch and fellowship.

Please RSVP ASAP!  Bring a bag lunch.  Drinks will be provided.

We remind you of the indigenous ministry of Peter Onyango in Orucho, Kenya: he carries a heavy burden in supporting and caring for elderly widows in his village.  We can help Peter minister to them.  He needs funds to provide them with mosquito netting, firewood, food, medication and water.  Those of us here in the U. S. who know of his labor for the Lord are the major source of his support.  A "little bit" to us goes a long way to Peter! Please, please prayerfully consider what the Lord would want you to do. Again, we ask that you please consider helping us help Peter!  See our website for pictures and more info.  Send your donations to:

Worldwide Discipleship Association
Peter Onyango's Account - "elderly"
P. O. Box 142437
Fayetteville, GA 30214

As we said last month, WDA will handle the transfer of funds to Africa and send you a receipt for your contribution if you send it directly to them.  Because he is overseas, they retain a reduced rate of only 4% of the donations for Peter to cover these expenses (a very reasonable amount in our opinion).  If you have questions, you are welcome to call us at (757)714-3133.  On Peter's behalf we thank you for your consideration.

Love in Christ,

Jerry and Dar Johnson

Prayer Requests

We invite you to join with us in our appeal to the Master of the Universe to aid us this year in the following areas:

We ask God Almighty to bless this work with a mighty and effective proclamation of the Good News of Jesus Christ to the lost...and to confirm His Word with miracles, signs and wonders.

We humbly pray to God the Father for an anointed, solid Word of encouragement to His dear children who are struggling in their faith and their hope in the Eternal Promises of Christ.

We cry out to our Loving Savior for a fresh endowment of His compassion for the hurting, the forgotten, the struggling in long-term care settings all over the world.

We appeal to God for His empowerment and His favor in calling together His soldiers in long-term care volunteerism in our region and in our nation.

We pray that God give us a reliable means of extending a helping hand to fellow long-term care laborers throughout the Earth, and especially in third world countries.

We call on the Great Creative Writer to guide us and inspire us as we pursue production of the seventh edition of "A Handbook for Long-Term-Care Ministry."

We ask the Perfect Teacher to lead us to realize our efforts to put the true-inductive, true-seminar-style Bible study, "Chapter & Verse," on the world-wide web for the edification and the unity of the Body of Christ all over this planet.

In obedience and submission to Your leading in this, Your ministry, we lay these petitions before You, Father and yield to Your wisdom, Your timing and the proportion of Your provision - for Your Eternal Glory - in the wonderful, precious Name of Your Dear Son, Jesus Christ.
