Newsletter of the Month

August 2010

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

As you may remember, in January we included a list of seven special prayer requests. These prayer concerns reflect what we feel to be the Lord's expressed will for this ministry. We have included these seven items for prayer on the back of this letter. Please help us in seeking the Lord's blessings and guidance in each of these areas of our labor for Him.

In this newsletter over the next couple months, we intend on completing our explanation of each of these requests. We want to discuss request number six this month:

We call on the Great Creative Writer to guide us and inspire us as we pursue production of the seventh edition of "A Handbook for Long-Term-Care Ministry."

This is another area in which we feel the Lord is already responding. As some of you know, we recently finished a complete rewrite of our website. In the process of this project we updated the online version of "A Handbook for Nursing Home Ministry" which was originally taken from our fifth edition. Though the name is a little different from our projection for the seventh edition, this current version of the handbook is essentially a "sixth" edition and it puts us well on the way to the seventh. We are not clear yet on whether we will produce a "hard copy" of the seventh edition since use of the internet has become so pervasive and the logistics of maintaining the handbook online is so minimal. Please continue holding our work on the handbook up in prayer.

Last month we brought to your attention the ministry of Peter Onyango in Orucho, Kenya. There is news. Peter has been very ill with problems probably caused by their ongoing issues with access to good drinking water. He is finally getting over the original sickness AND the reactions to the wrong medication. He had to endure more than one lecture by the doctor who has a definite attitude toward Christians--saying they never came back for the full regimen of doses. No sense of mercy regarding the struggle to get the funds!

The sad news from his family is that his youngest sister, Mary, died from childbirth complications. The public hospital sent her to the private hospital and in the process, she bled to death. Peter's family had to "negotiate" their portion of the burial expenses--a more-than-fair $167, but Peter went against traditional culture and did not contribute to a huge feast.

After all this, his attention returns to the most desperate of his elderly widows, Beldine and Yunes. We can help Peter minister to them. He needs funds to provide them with mosquito netting, firewood, food, medication and water. Those of us here in the U. S. who know of his labor for the Lord are the major source of his support. A "little bit" to us goes a long way to Peter!

In answer to our prayers, we believe the Lord has graciously brought the needs of Peter's ministry to our attention. Again, we ask that you please consider helping us help Mary help Peter! See our website for pictures and more info. Send your donations to:

As we said last month, WDA will handle the transfer of funds to Africa and send you a receipt for your contribution if you send it directly to them. Because he is overseas, they retain a reduced rate of only 4% of the donations for Peter to cover these expenses (a very reasonable amount in our opinion). If you have questions, you are welcome to call us at (757)714-3133.

Thank You!

Love in Christ,

Prayer Requests

We invite you to join with us in our appeal to the Master of the Universe to aid us this year in the following areas:

We ask God Almighty to bless this work with a mighty and effective proclamation of the Good News of Jesus Christ to the lost...and to confirm His Word with miracles, signs and wonders.

We humbly pray to God the Father for an anointed, solid Word of encouragement to His dear children who are struggling in their faith and their hope in the Eternal Promises of Christ.

We cry out to our Loving Savior for a fresh endowment of His compassion for the hurting, the forgotten, the struggling in long-term-care settings all over the world.

We appeal to God for His empowerment and His favor in calling together His soldiers in long-term-care volunteerism in our region and in our nation.

We pray that God give us a reliable means of extending a helping hand to fellow long-term-care laborers throughout the Earth, and especially in third world countries.

We call on the Great Creative Writer to guide us and inspire us as we pursue production of the seventh edition of "A Handbook for Long-Term-Care Ministry."

We ask the Perfect Teacher to lead us to realize our efforts to put the true-inductive, true-seminar-style Bible study, "Chapter & Verse," on the world-wide web for the edification and the unity of the Body of Christ all over this planet.

In obedience and submission to Your leading in this, Your ministry, we lay these petitions before You, Father and yield to Your wisdom, Your timing and the proportion of Your provision - for Your Eternal Glory - in the wonderful, precious Name of Your Dear Son, Jesus Christ.
