Dear Friends in Christ:

A few years ago, we began to pray for a door to open for us to help someone who ministers to the elderly in an area overseas that struggled with poverty. We believe that God answered that prayer through a missionary friend of ours named Mary McKeever. She ministers under Worldwide Discipleship Association and we have known and supported her for many years. Her work is primarily at Purdue University with foreign students. In addition to her labor for the Lord at Purdue, she has traveled several times during summer breaks to eastern Africa to strengthen the ministries of indigenous pastors in different countries including Kenya.

There are enclaves of modern culture in Kenya where life is somewhat familiar to us. But in the bush, especially in the western part of the country, conditions are harsh and bare. The wet season washes everything with incessant rain and the dry season, the rest of the year, makes growing good crops very difficult. A few years ago, about the same time we were asking God to provide some way for us to support a legitimate need specifically for the elderly overseas, Mary told us about the needs of widows in Kenya, Africa and about a Kenyan pastor there named Peter who helped them. This was without us mentioning anything to her about our burden. By God's grace, we began to share in supplying some assistance to them through Peter and we let our supporters know about this chance to reach widows overseas also.

Thanking God for the opportunity, we continue to support the indigenous ministry of Peter Onyango in Kenya: he carries a heavy burden in caring for several elderly widows in his village. We can help Peter minister to them. In many cases, they have no means of support except what Brother Onyango is able to provide. We are a continent and an ocean away from their poverty and it is easy to forget how poor they really are. Simple necessities like mosquito netting, fire wood, food and medicine are in great need year round. Please prayerfully consider what the Lord would want you to do toward helping us help Peter! See our website for pictures and more info. Make your check out to "Worldwide Discipleship Association" and note the designation, "Peter Onyango - elderly." Send your donations to:

Peter Onyango's Account - “elderly”

WDA will handle the transfer of funds to Africa and mail you a receipt for your contribution if you send it directly to them. They retain a reduced rate of only 4 percent of the donations for Peter to cover their expenses (a very reasonable amount in our opinion). If you have questions, you are welcome to call us at (757)714-3133. On Peter's behalf we thank you for your consideration.

If you are helping us financially, please know that we are grateful for your kindness. We are able to reach out with our resources and tools for nursing home ministry because someone gives. If you are able, and do not help us with regular donations, please, prayerfully consider this work in your support of the Christian message to care centers throughout the United States and in several english-speaking countries overseas. Again, thank you.

Love in Christ,

Jerry and Dar
