Newsletter of the Month

March 2010

Dear Friends,

Greetings in the Name of Jesus Christ. Thank you for taking a few moments to read our monthly letter. Dar told you last month that Jerry had a heart attack in January. There have been no tears or panic, but we are certainly sobered and inspired by a heightened interest in the absolutes of life in Christ. Both of us, you can be assured, have been sharing some quality time with the Lord over the past seven weeks.

If you remember, in January we included a list of seven special prayer requests. These prayer concerns reflect what we feel to be the Lord's expressed will for this ministry. We have included these seven items for prayer at the bottom of this letter. Please help us in seeking the Lord's blessings and guidance in each of these areas of our labor for Him.

In this newsletter over the next several months, we intend on expanding our explanation of each of these requests. This is the first:

We ask God Almighty to bless this work with a mighty and effective proclamation of the Good News of Jesus Christ to the lost...and to confirm His Word with miracles, signs and wonders.

In our articles of incorporation we clearly establish the purpose of Christian Concourse: "This Corporation is organized exclusively for the purpose of ministering the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, as revealed in the inspired Word of God, and to facilitate the unity of His Church, and, generally, for other charitable, religious, educational, and scientific purposes;...."

Our primary, overarching purpose is the proclamation of the Gospel of our LORD Jesus Christ. Certainly, this message that we proclaim is simple and profound: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16 NKJV

We are commissioned by our LORD, Jesus Christ Himself, to spread His message: "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." Mark 16:15 KJV

"LORD" is synonymous with "Master." If someone is your "master" he tells you what to do, when to do it, and how to do it. This is the foundation for our prayer. We may know what the message is. We may want to tell people what the message is and we may want them to respond positively, but, "Unless the LORD builds the house, they labor in vain who build it." Ps. 127:1 NKJV  So, please pray with us as we seek His guidance and His empowerment.

About empowerment: in the New Testament there were times in the early Church when God confirmed His message that the Apostles were proclaiming with miracles, signs and wonders. "And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen." Mark 16:20 NKJV   We believe that "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." Heb 13:8 NKJV   We ask God to show us how to share His message powerfully and effectively and we ask Him to confirm His message to those we minister to with "the accompanying signs!"

Everything we do has this calling from God woven into it. Below we list some of the things we are doing now that address His call on this ministry in very specific terms:

We distribute thousands of large-print hymn booklets. These are in every English-speaking nation in the world. In the front of every booklet is a full-page description of the Gospel.

There is a plain statement of the Christian faith on our website under "Tenants of Faith and Ethics."

All of the poetry that we feature on our website and publish in The Journal lift up Jesus Christ and encourage others in their faith in Him.

In every service we conduct in the six nursing homes we minister in directly, we strive to explain the Gospel in practical, relevant, understandable terms.

Our website includes an article by Jerry called "The Exclusivity of Christ." This is an extensive reflection on the preeminence of Christ in all of human existence.

On our website is a free download of several Worship Service Programs. Each of these include a sermonette by Jerry which promotes the Gospel and/or encourages Christians in their faith in Christ.

We include on our website a free download of "Light for Everyday." (discontinued)  This is a monthly calendar with scriptures for every day. The theme for the month of March is "The Commandments of Jesus Christ."

Dar continues in her outreach of "one-on-ones" in nursing homes which opens avenues for witnessing for Christ where other doors are closed.

Maybe there are things we could do to spread the Gospel that we haven't thought of yet; things that we have not had the faith to believe for yet. That is why we pray and why we sincerely ask you to pray.

The thought has occurred to us that maybe the enemy thinks we have been made weaker and less effective by Jerry's recent health episodes. Well, what we have to say to him is what God says through His Prophet, Joel: "Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruning hooks into spears; let the weak say, 'I am a warrior.'" Joel 3:10 ESV   We say to satan what the Holy Spirit says through His Apostle, Paul: "But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me." 2Cor 12:9 ESV   This is no game. There are no good alternatives to obeying the will of God. Lead on, Oh King Eternal!

Halleluiah!!!!!!!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS!

Love In Christ,

Jerry and Dar Johnson

We invite you to join with us in our appeal to the Master of the Universe to aid us this year in the following areas:

We ask God Almighty to bless this work with a mighty and effective proclamation of the Good News of Jesus Christ to the lost...and to confirm His Word with miracles, signs and wonders.

We humbly pray to God the Father for an anointed, solid Word of encouragement to His dear children who are struggling in their faith and their hope in the Eternal Promises of Christ.

We cry out to our Loving Savior for a fresh endowment of His compassion for the hurting, the forgotten, the struggling in long-term-care settings all over the world.

We appeal to God for His empowerment and His favor in calling together His soldiers in long-term-care volunteerism in our region and in our nation.

We pray that God give us a reliable means of extending a helping hand to fellow long-term-care laborers throughout the Earth, and especially in third world countries.

We call on the Great Creative Writer to guide us and inspire us as we pursue production of the seventh edition of "A Handbook for Long-Term-Care Ministry."

We ask the Perfect Teacher to lead us to realize our efforts to put the true-inductive, true-seminar-style Bible study, "Chapter & Verse," on the world-wide web for the edification and the unity of the Body of Christ all over this planet.

In obedience and submission to Your leading in this, Your ministry, we lay these petitions before You, Dear Father and yield to Your wisdom, Your timing and the proportion of Your provision...for Your Eternal Glory...in the wonderful, precious Name of Your Dear Son, Jesus Christ.
